It was trans­lat­ed from Po­lish to Eng­lish. 1921. by Edith M. Reed and arranged by her in 1926. The Polish text is probably attributable to Piotrowi Skardze. 1536-1612. and appeared in the Michał M. Mioduszewski collection Śpiewnik kościelny czyli Pieśni nabożne z melodiami w Kościele Katolickim używane , Kraków 1838. The original Polish melody. tune. is from the 18th century.
