This is my attempt to write lyrics in English which would fit the melody for one of the standard pieces in the medieval secular music repertory. stanzas by Konrad von Würzburg. 13th cent. set to my arrangement of a melody usually attributed also to him. though as was common in the period he may have adopted the melody from elsewhere. My translation of Konrad's Middle High German is necessarily rather free -- creating an English version which was literally accurate and idiomatic English and fit the music was simply beyond me, so I settled for attempting the last two -- but I think it's close enough to be called a translation. This is a "song-book" type score just meant to give the words and melody. which is all that the original texts give. with optional accompaniment left to the performers. Synth flute used in this sound file to simulate voice. I've written it with male tenor voice in mind, though it's usually sung by countertenor.

Dit is mijn poging om de teksten te schrijven in het Engels waarin de melodie zou passen voor een van de standaard stukken in de middeleeuwse wereldlijke muziek repertoire. strofen van Konrad von Würzburg. 13 cent. ingesteld op mijn opstelling van een melodie meestal toegeschreven ook voor hem. maar zoals gebruikelijk in de periode was hij de melodie kan hebben aangenomen van elders. Mijn vertaling van Konrad's Middelhoogduits noodzakelijkerwijs nogal vrij - het creëren van een Engels versie, die was letterlijk accurate en idiomatische Engels en past de muziek was gewoon buiten mij, dus ik geregeld voor een poging de laatste twee - maar ik denk dat het is dicht genoeg bij . Dit is een lied-boek soort score alleen bedoeld om de woorden en de melodie te geven. dat is alles wat de originele teksten geven. met optionele begeleiding overgelaten aan de uitvoerders. Synth fluit gebruikt in dit geluidsbestand te simuleren voice. Ik heb het geschreven met mannelijke tenor stem in het achterhoofd, maar het is meestal gezongen door countertenor.
