A composition written in traditional, if not classical, style and based around two adagio-allegro movements, in which the adagio movement acts as an introduction followed by the allegro sonata. The educational purpose of the piece is clear in its intent to draw the attention of the young musicians to more traditional musical formats such as overtures, sonatas etc. - musical formats against which past masters such as Mozart, Haydn, Clementi, Mendelssohn and many others pitted their wits and left absolute masterpieces as testimony to their labours.
