Meditation was written in 1978 during a summer vacation in Vermont. The chord progression is based on a Spanish jazz style but the work also recalls some elements of Bach's four part chorale writing. It can be played separately or as part of a suite featuring. C.S. Chaconne, Meditation, Tango and Caught between a Music Box and a Calliope, a humorous encore piece. The different moods of each of the movements provides the audience with a voyage in various instrumental colors and expressions. Every player is featured in solos or duos.
