Carl Maria von Weber, the great German Romantic composer, wrote many concerto pieces for winds in which he used the technical and acoustic properties and capabilieties of the instruments to the full, almost defining them anew in the process. E After the resonant success of the bassoon concerto op. 75, Georg Friedrich Brandt, the famous Munich bassoon soloist, asked the composer to arrange his Andante e Rondo Ungarese, originally written for viola and orchestra, for the bassoon. This transcription was so successful that it soon attained the status of a second bassoon concerto. When the bassoonist Milan Turkovic looked for a short work for bassoon and string quartet for a concert performance, Michael Rot prepared this arrangement in which the bassoon can show its full virtuosity without any problems of balance while remaining a chamber-music-like first among equals.

Carl Maria von Weber, de grote Duitse romantische componist, schreef veel concerto stukken voor blazers waarin hij door de technische en akoestische eigenschappen en capabilieties van de instrumenten om de volledige, ze bijna definiëren opnieuw in het proces. E Na de resonante succes van de fagot concerto op. 75, Georg Friedrich Brandt, de beroemde München fagot solist, vroeg de componist te regelen zijn Andante e Rondo Ungarese, oorspronkelijk geschreven voor altviool en orkest, voor de fagot. Deze transcriptie was zo succesvol dat het al snel bereikte de status van een tweede fagot concerto. Wanneer de fagottist Milan Turkovic gezocht naar een korte werk voor fagot en strijkkwartet voor een concert prestaties, Michael Rot voorbereid deze regeling waarin de fagot zijn volledige virtuositeit kan laten zien zonder problemen van de balans, terwijl de resterende een kamermuziek-achtige eerste onder gelijken.
