This Renaissance verse anthem alternates passages of two solo Voices with Choral sections, is a testament to his mastery of this form. Organist, Keyboard player and composer Orlando Gibbons was not only a composer of beautiful music. In his day he was also an important musical member of the Jacobean court and Organist at Westminster Abbey. He is now best known as a master of polyphonic music and some of his anthems have remained in the repertory of Anglican Cathedrals since the Restoration.
