The titles in this collection are abstracts from the great repertory of the Standards of Jazz. Each title is presented in two ways. The first version of the work arrangement for piano with all fingering and figuring included. The second version present the elementary theme along with the origianl harmonic figuring which is the 'raw material' used for composing all arrangements. By using these two versions, pianists will be able to analyze the melodic and harmonic improvements added to the piano arrangement, as well as practice their own improvisations on the themes. Piano teachers will also find in this volume a good basic repertory to introduce Jazz to their students. The playful aspect is added to this anthology by way of the midi-files which accompany the mixed CD. CD audio and CD rom. offering the possibility to listen to the pieces in midi by using the sound card of a computer.
