The Cowboy Life is a picturesque work for strings in three movements. In the first movement, On the Trail, the cowboys move west at a steady gallop over the open plains, down canyon ravines, and across mountains to get to their destination. The second movement, Campfire, portrays a starry summer night on the plains sleeping in the open air near a blazing fire. In the third movement, Barn Dance, the cowboys have finally arrived at their destination, and now enjoy the safety and comfort of a western town. Loads of fun!
