Enjoyable Duets by John Whelan * VSM MEMBER * on August 2020

I played the violin-cello duet for the first time yesterday. What I enjoyed most was that the duets are not simply melody with an accompanying harmony. Both lines work on their own and sound great.

This is a delightful set of duets for violin and cello, equally balanced with melodies in both parts. Very easy to read and play. Refreshing to have so much lovely music to play, now that we have the time to play it! Superb edition as always from VSM. The Mazas violin duos arranged for violin and cello are just what my cellist friend and I have been looking for. Although the cello part does seem a little low the pieces are still great fun to play.

Yay! So happy to find that someone transposed the violin duets for violin and cello! It saved me time, and since these are such delightful duets, I am so happy to find these. My only complaint is that the cello part is about an octave too low to sound good. If the cello part could be raised at least one octave, I would gladly purchase it again!

Highly Recommended for Intermediate Players by Leslie on November 2010

These are lovely little pieces and they are perfect for emerging players moving beyond easier works. They are very playable without being too complex for an intermediate player. You can really move ahead because they provide the opportunity to practice developing techniques in a way that is challenging but not overwhelming. I'm really enjoying them!
